Wicked Cup of Joe

Almost time for a new year.

New year, new me. No more gullible, naive, believes-what-she’s-told me. Say hello to Ms. Skeptic.

It always hurts when someone you love doesn’t love you back — but it hurts 1000x more when someone tells you that they love you and it was all a lie.

Sure, I believe you can fall in and out of love. But if love departs quicker than it arrives, then was it really there to begin with?

Life is hard. That’s a given. You’ll always find ups and downs. I think my favorite quote about life comes from Parenthood.

Grandma: You know, when I was nineteen, Grandpa took me on a roller coaster.
Gil: Oh?
Grandma: Up, down, up, down. Oh, what a ride!
Gil: What a great story.
Grandma: I always wanted to go again. You know, it was just so interesting to me that a ride could make me so frightened, so scared, so sick, so excited, and so thrilled all together! Some didn’t like it. They went on the merry-go-round. That just goes around. Nothing. I like the roller coaster. You get more out of it.

I truly believe I am more of a merry-go-round person. Sure, life can become mundane. But at least you know what you’ve got and everything is given at face value.

So you can be sure, I will not fall for the same shit I fell for in 2007. It’s time for a new me.

In February, I turn 30. So for my 30th, I’m going to go for another tattoo. Right now I’m thinking about one of the below. :) Thoughts?

Y’know, I think there’s something to be said for not being too bitter, for keeping at least some of the child-like optimism. Learn from your experiences, but don’t become hardened. You’ll get so much more out of life.

None of the tats really call out to me when I think of you. I’ll keep thinking…

To be honest, neither. Why a broken or a black heart? Now, if it were a full heart, then the top one.

    I like the second one.

@Me: Thanks. It’s true. Lesson learned. Move forward. Chalk it up to a life lesson that needed to be experienced. ;)

@Eric: Broken - well, because that’s how I feel. ;) Black because I am not a real big fan of colored ones. I have a small Chinese character in black.

@Kathy: I like it too. But I think it may be too big. If I shrink it, I think I may lose some of the shadows, ect. I’ll have to see. I was thinking of getting it lower back, centered. Then I’d have the Chinese character on one side, the heart in the middle and then I was thinking of getting another Chinese character on the other side to even it off (uhm, OCD much? LOL). I’m all about balance, so I was thinking of getting the characters that mean demon (http://www.chinese-symbols.com/d-chinese-symbol-for-demon). First, I think they are pretty. And they are the antonym of angel (my current characters). Both are two characters as well. Nice and even. :)
